Indonesian millennials shop online but they pay offline due to fear of fraud. In Indonesia, paying offline means getting stuck in the world’s worse traffic jams just to withdraw money at ATMs or make bank transfers. It’s a huge inconvenience. 

THE CHALLENGE

How do we convince digital savvy Indonesian millennials that shopping and paying online with debit Mastercard is safe and convenient?

ONE DAD. ONE DEBIT MASTERCARD. 3 DAYS TO TRANSFORM HIS MANCAVE INTO A NURSERY

We challenged one of Indonesia’s top influencers to transform his mancave into a nursery in only 3 days without leaving his home, armed with just his Debit Mastercard, mobile phone and the love of his fans. And it had to look good enough for his very discerning wife.

Tarra Budiman was the perfect influencer for the campaign. He was young, digitally savvy and beloved by millions of Indonesian millennials. The fact that he and Gya, his wife, were mere months away from becoming first-time parents gave us a unique opportunity to tell an authentic story while demonstrating the real-world, real-life convenience of using Debit Mastercard.

Hosted on Facebook and Twitter Live, Tarra demonstrated how easy, safe and convenient it was to shop and pay online with Mastercard.

We kicked off the campaign with a call for help from Tarra, where he explained how he was in hot soup with his pregnant wife for forgetting to make room for the baby on the way, and urged his fans to lend their help.

 

We created an event page so Indonesians could join his 3-day room makeover effort, and get regular reminders closer to the dates to help him out.

Loyal fans were rewarded daily for listening closely with a live quiz. Correct answers won big-ticket giveaways from the mancave. For everyone else, there were time-sensitive promo codes.

We dramatised hyper convenience by proving you can have everything you need without having to leave your home - to withdraw cash or make a bank transfer.
